Limited to 60 copies (No. 1–60), this Art Edition features three facsimile volumes of Françoise Gilot’s travel sketchbooks from 1974 to 1981, combining the distinct atmospheres of Venice, India, and Senegal with her signature abstract figuration. The collection is complemented by La Salute, Venice (2017), a hand-printed, four-color lithograph signed by the artist, reflecting on the visual themes of her Venetian sketchbook.

Created exclusively for TASCHEN, the print depicts the church of Santa Maria della Salute not as a traditional Italian veduta, but as a city reimagined. Having visited Venice so frequently, Gilot noted that she no longer merely observed the floating city, but had completely assimilated it into her artistic psyche.
